About Us

Cultural exchange was born from a desire to help people like you connect with Latino families in your community, through hiring Spanish-speaking Teaching Assistants. We are here to help you hire a Mexican education major (through the J1 Visa program) who speaks Spanish and English. They will join you as a teaching assistant, but the benefit of hiring them will go far beyond gaining help in your classrooms. These young educators will help you develop relationships and connections with families of your next generation of Catholic students.

We know how difficult it is for your staff to communicate with families who don’t speak English. There are a lot of Spanish-speaking Catholics in American communities who would love their children to have a Catholic education, but they can’t because some Catholic schools don’t have Spanish-speaking staff.

Cultural Exchange will help you to hire bilingual teachers assistants with the same values that you are looking for!

This is how Cultural Exchange can help you

The Hispanic Catholic opportunity. Latino families represent the next generation of Catholic students, parishioners and leaders. 70% of Catholics under 35 are latinos and they are expected to triple by 2050. Catholics Latinos could reverse the decline in enrollment numbers in catholic schools in the years to come.

As a Catholic school leader - you are in a position to help your school connect with the Latino families in a way that helps you grow your school and grow the Catholic faith.

This program helps schools grow and thrive, it helps Mexican teachers grow and learn about American culture and it helps Spanish-speaking families to connect with Catholic schools and churches.

Reach out to us and together we can change lives!

The benefits of the Cultural Exchange program are:

• You’ll hire an international bilingual paraprofessional for 12 or 18 months.

• This candidate will help you connect with the Latino population that your school has not been able to connect with, due to language and culture barriers.

• The candidate can help you provide Latino-Mexican activities year-round.

• Increase your enrollment numbers and diversity in your school.

• You can help a Mexican graduate gain international experience and improve their English.

Some important facts:

• Latinos are the largest and youngest ethnic minority population in the US. (62 million)

• Only 4% of Catholic Latino children are enrolled in Catholic Schools.

• 35% of all practicing Catholic parishioners in the U.S are Latino.

• 1 out of every 4 children in the U.S. are Latino.

• If we could enroll 5-10% of US Latino Catholics, we would never close another school.
